Here I am, sitting in a delicious coffeehouse/deli in Amherst, Massachusetts, with baby sleeping soundly next to me in the stroller while I happily create my first ever blog entry. I have been itching to get started on some travel writing (and other factual writing) and what better time than during our current world trip: Around the World in 88 Days!
We are just coming to the end of three weeks exploring some more of the USA, the place we now call home. We spent time in California, Virginia, and Massachusetts (a week in each). Tomorrow we take our first international flight with baby on board (not counting those second trimester flights we took last year). This will be where the real challenge begins. We are optimistic that all will go well, but also cautious, and planning ahead as much as possible.
When returning to yoga class after five weeks overseas during my pregnancy last year, my wonderful and supportive yoga teacher said: “If you can do that, you can do anything!”, referring to the international trip I had just taken during my second trimester. “It was easy”, I thought (well, apart from the usual pregnancy fatigue, that is); however, I understood this was because I was lucky enough to have a straightforward pregnancy with no complications or illness.
This time the challenge feels a little more real: three months around the world with baby not yet a year old. And this is where my blog begins: it is now the day before we fly from Boston to Dublin where we will commence our world travels as a family of three – a very exciting time for us!
New projects often have an interesting way of changing direction and evolving over time, and I am all too aware that as I write this the nature of my blog may change as time goes by. For now, the aim of this blog is to share thoughts on topics such as living a balanced life (physical and emotional health, exercise, cooking and recipes), travel, and specifically travelling with a baby, and home and lifestyle. I hope to share many experiences with you using both photographs and the written word, and I very much look forward to hearing from you as well, if any of these topics are of interest to you.
Welcome to Hot Tea, Travel, & Thyme. Please join me on this journey around the world.
