This post has been sitting in my drafts’ folder for a very long time, but now that it is the new year I feel it is the right time to be thinking about these things a whole lot more, and sharing them with others.
2012 was an amazing year. I got engaged, I got married, I finished university once and for all, and we moved from Australia to our new home in the USA. These were all certainly some of the happiest days of my life. What could top that – nothing, right?
Well, it turns out there is a year in my mind that was even better…
August, 2014 – August, 2015.
THIS was the happiest year of my life (so far)…
I started running regularly. And I lived in a place that had almost non-stop sunshine and almost no rain. (That place was New Mexico, USA).
I was also living in a small town, and there was much less day-to-day stress. I really really miss it a lot!
I miss the friendliness of the people, I miss how quiet it was, and I miss many other aspects, such as the food and the weather.
I am enjoying all the varied life experiences living in different places around the world brings with it, but to be honest, I also get incredibly nostalgic for places like New Mexico. I truly loved it there, and it still feels like home, to this day.
One of the good things about relocating (even though I can get homesick at times) is that I am figuring out what I want and what I don’t want in life. I may have spent most of my life in the inner city, but I would much prefer living in a smaller town now that I’m older.
Regardless of where I am, I must make the most of every place I see and enjoy unique things about each place.
So this week I am asking the questions:
Where is your favourite place to live, and why?
Do you have a favourite year of your life (so far)?
See you next time,
